![]() Mulder gets in first, and sees one man suspended in mid air. Scully and Mulder arrive, and rush in as they hear Lauren screaming. The two assassins break in, but the invisible force attacks them. Lauren, thinking it’s the agents, tries to open the door, but an unseen force tries to block it. ![]() Lauren packs a bag while waiting for the agents, but someone else shows up first. She tells him to meet her at her house immediately, then hangs up. She says she knows he had Graves killed, then dodges past him out of the office and calls Mulder. He threatens her to keep her quiet about something Graves told her. Her new boss follows her in and shuts the door. When Scully sees that he was an organ donor, she decides to confirm his identity using said organs.īack at work, Lauren sneaks into Graves’ office. Lauren is the one who ID’d the body no other confirmation happened. Scully thinks Graves faked his death, and he and Lauren are conspiring to do something. Lauren comes to the conclusion that it wasn’t suicide someone killed him. She finds her bathtub full of water and blood. She hears a man talking, begging for someone to stop. She grabs a bat and looks for the intruder. That night, as Lauren tries to sleep, she hears footsteps in her house. Magical photo enhancement show that it’s Howard Graves, Lauren’s boss. Mulder develops the surveillance photos, revealing a blurry figure in the background. She’s not sure how it connects to the attackers in the alley. Scully writes a report indicating that Lauren is estranged from her own family but was close to her boss. It was his young daughter, who died when he left the pool gate open and she drowned. They ask the graveyard attendant about the grave stone next to Graves’. They then follow Lauren as she visits his grave. She’s really upset that the parking spot belonging to her dead boss, Graves, is getting reassigned. The agents follow Lauren, conducting surveillance. It’s not psychokinetic, it’s an accomplice. The men who assaulted Lauren are attached to a Mideast extremist group, Lauren works for the Defense Department, and their car was sabotaged when they questioned her. Scully thinks this is connected to terrorism. Mulder thinks that’s how Lauren might be manipulating objects without touching them. The filaments are superheated by an electrostatic charge. The headlights appear to be on, but they aren’t. What was she up to? Mechanics can’t find anything wrong with the agents’ car. Lauren, watching from her window, abruptly moves out of sight. When they get in the car, it mysteriously starts, then speeds off in reverse, hitting another car. The agents suspect Lauren isn’t telling them everything. Scully asks if Lauren recognizes the blurry streak in the background, but Lauren says she can’t tell them who it is. Scully shows her pictures of the men who attacked her, but Lauren denies having seen them before. The agents head over to Lauren’s apartment to interview her. They see the 2 men grabbing Lauren, and an odd blur in the background. Mulder notices the nearby ATM, and they use the ATM camera to look for witnesses. The agents head to Philly, and talk to a cop who found the bodies. Mulder and Scully look up the files of one of the dead men, Mohammed Amrollahi, who has ties to an extremist group and is based 60 minutes away from the hospital, matching the only info the agents got about where the bodies were found. Something appears to yank him away, and he decides to let her quit. ![]() Then he grabs her face and says he won’t let her leave. She wants to see her new boss, and possibly knocks over a coffee cup with her mind to create a distraction and get his attention. Lauren, the woman from the teaser, shows up to work late. How do you crush the bones without damaging the tissues? Mulder lies and tells them he’s never seen deaths like this before. The people who called in the agents don’t want to give up any more information then they have to, and want the agents to keep this meeting secret. The bodies are still warm, have been exposed to electrostatic charge, and have crushed larynxes but no tissue damage, as if the throats were crushed from the inside. The law enforcement/medical personnel there asked for their help specifically, due to some odd characteristics of the bodies. Scully and Mulder go to the morgue of Bethesda Naval hospital. They find the bodies of the two attackers. A couple hours later, a young couple is walking through the same alley where the assault happened. That night, the same woman is grabbed by two attackers while she’s at an ATM. A plaque on his desk moves on its own while her back is turned.
